What are Pan Am Journeys by Private Air?
Pan Am Journeys by Private Air are exclusive travel programs that pay homage to the pioneering legacy of Pan American World Airways. These journeys recreate the spirit of classic aviation with modern comfort, inspired storytelling, and curated in-destination experiences. Beyond Capricorn operates these tours under an official license from Pan American World Airways.
What kind of trips will there be?
Our journeys explore a variety of themes, from transcontinental aviation routes to cultural grand tours, designed for travelers with a passion for history, luxury, and discovery. Each itinerary blends iconic destinations with immersive local experiences, offering both depth and elegance.
Is this a Pan Am-owned aircraft?
No. The aircraft used on our journeys is privately chartered and expertly managed by our trusted aviation partners. While not owned by Pan Am, the aircraft is outfitted to reflect the elegance and service ethos of the Pan Am legacy, with custom touches and design elements that honor its history.
What kind of aircraft do you use?
We typically use a privately chartered Boeing 757 or 767, configured for comfort with lie-flat business class seating, onboard lounges, and attentive service. All flights are direct between destinations, using private terminals where available to streamline the experience. Please refer to the individual journey pages for details, or talk to our experts.
How many guests are on each journey?
Group sizes vary depending on the journey but are always kept intentionally small to preserve intimacy and ensure personal attention. Some programs accommodate as few as 30 guests, while others may host up to 70. Our most iconic Pan Am Journeys often cap at 50 travelers. Please refer to the individual journey pages for details, or talk to our experts.
What kind of guests travel on your journeys?
Expect to meet like-minded adventurers: culturally engaged, open to new experiences, and eager to share a once-in-a-lifetime journey. Our guests often form lasting connections, and camaraderie is a hallmark of the Pan Am Journeys experience.
Are these tours good for solo travelers?
Yes. Many of our guests travel solo and find the experience welcoming and socially enriching. We offer single accommodations and a supportive environment where solo travelers can connect with others while enjoying the freedom to explore independently.
Are children allowed?
While our journeys are designed primarily for adults, mature children over the age of 14 may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to discuss suitability.
SERVICE & EXPERIENCE
What kind of service can I expect?
Expect nothing less than exceptional. Our dedicated tour managers, flight crew, and customer service team provide white-glove support throughout the journey. We take care of everything—from in-air comfort to on-the-ground logistics—so you can fully relax and enjoy your adventure.
What staff accompanies me on the journey?
Each journey includes professional Tour Managers, and an Onboard Logistics Director. You’ll also meet expert local guides, lecturers, and a dedicated flight crew who travel with the group. Our team is on hand to assist you throughout, from hotel check-ins to special requests.
What kind of activities can I expect?
Every stop includes a menu of curated excursions—cultural tours, culinary experiences, active and outdoor adventures. In some locations you may choose from one of several options to suit your personal preferences, we call this Beyond Curated.
Are all tours done in groups?
Many activities are offered in small-group formats, but you always have flexibility. We design each itinerary with options for independent exploration or private excursions, allowing you to set your own pace.
Is luggage handled for me?
Yes. We offer comprehensive luggage concierge services. Your bags are seamlessly transported and handled from hotel to hotel, and there are no baggage limits onboard our private flights beyond what is practical. If you have unusual luggage needs, just let us know in advance.
Can I choose my seat in advance?
Yes. Guests can submit seat preferences in advance. While seating is subject to availability and aircraft configuration, we do our best to honor your request. On most of our journeys, we operate a seat rotation system, giving everyone the opportunity to experience different areas of the aircraft throughout the journey.
What are the mobility requirements or expectations?
Our journeys include walking tours and excursions that may involve stairs, uneven terrain, or extended periods of standing. While we accommodate guests with varying mobility, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Please let us know in advance if you have mobility concerns—we will do our best to assist.
MEALS, ACCOMMODATIONS & PORTERAGE
Are all meals included?
Yes. All breakfasts, most lunches and dinners, and all onboard meals are included. Select evenings may offer freedom to dine on your own, with our team happy to provide recommendations and reservations.
What if I have special dietary restrictions?
We are pleased to accommodate special diets with advance notice, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, halal, and allergy-related requirements. Please advise us at time of booking.
What beverages are included?
All beverages onboard the aircraft are included—this includes wine, beer, spirits, and soft drinks. On the ground, house wine, beer, and soft drinks are served with group meals.
Is luggage handled for me?

PLANNING YOUR TRIP
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, as space is limited and our tours often fill quickly. Early reservations also ensure better access to preferred excursions and accommodations.
What should I pack?
We recommend comfortable, stylish resort wear for day outings, and smart casual attire for evenings. Layers are essential, and we’ll provide destination-specific tips in your pre-departure packet. Our luggage concierge handles most transfers, so packing can remain stress-free

BOOKING
How do I book?
You can reserve your space online, by phone at 888.PAA.1927, or by emailing hello@beyondcapricorn.com. A deposit secures your spot, and our team is available to answer any questions along the way.
What is your cancellation policy?
A $5,000 per person deposit is required to confirm your booking. For the Tracing the Transpacific journey, a fully refundable deposit is offered until the new brochure is released. Once confirmed, we will inform you of any changes and provide a 14-day window to cancel should you choose. After that, and for all other journeys, all deposits and subsequent payments are non-refundable. Interim payments will be required between deposit and final balance, and advised at the time of booking. We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment. What is included in the trip cost?
Your journey includes: All accommodations at luxury properties or best available in location, as set out in the itinerary. All scheduled meals (breakfasts, most lunches and dinners) house beer, wine and soft drinks with all group lunches and dinners, and all onboard meals and beverages as set out in the itinerary. Private chartered flights between all destinations during the tour. Comprehensive luggage concierge and handling. Curated excursions in each destination, with a range of activity options as stated in the itinerary. Services of a professional Tour Manager, and Onboard Logistics Manager. All gratuities for guides, drivers, porters, wait staff and aircraft personnel. Special welcome and farewell events as detailed in the itinerary, pre-departure information packet.
What is not included in the trip cost?
Airfare or other travel arrangements to and from the start point of the tour, passport/visa expenses, medical expenses and immunizations if required at the time of travel, travel and trip cancellation insurance, private transfers or airport transfers outside of group arrival and departure days, excursions that deviate from the included tour options, commercial airline baggage charges (there are no baggage restrictions on our chartered aircraft unless stated), meals not specified in the itinerary; dishes and beverages not part of the included meals; liquor or soft drinks except as noted, laundry or dry cleaning, telephone, fax, internet, and email charges, room service, other items of a personal nature.
Air Arrangements
Airfare to/from the start point of the tour is not included in the program rates. Valerie Wilson Travel, Inc., can assist with airline arrangements and may be reached at 877-376-1754. You are also welcome to book your air transportation through your preferred travel advisor, online platform, or airline. Additional flight information will be provided to confirmed participants.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance, which offers coverage for cancellations due to illness, injury, or unforeseen events. In many cases, it may be the only source of reimbursement.
A Note About Costs
Tour costs are based on current fuel prices, currency values, taxes, tariffs, and a minimum number of participants. While we strive to maintain listed prices, they are subject to change. If significant changes occur, we will notify participants with updated pricing and details.
HEALTH & SAFETY
How do you look after guests’ health?
A professional tour manager travels with the group, and all journeys include access to medical support services. We can also help coordinate dietary needs, mobility assistance, and any personal medical considerations. We encourage guests to consult with their physicians and purchase travel insurance.
Who are you partnering with to operate journeys?
Journeys are operated by Criterion Travel and Bartelings, leaders in private jet travel and experiential tourism. Bartelings brings over a decade of unrivaled expertise operating private jet tours across the globe with tour operator partners.
